“Beach House” – The Chainsmokers

Screen Shot 2018-11-16 at 4.47.25 PM

The Chainsmokers are back with another song that feels exactly like the Chainsmokers, so at least they’ve got that going for them. Beach House is soul searching and peculiarly honest-sounding. We’re hoping they’re just exhausting all their musical bases before they break into their next phase like a beautiful butterfly — which will be phenomenal. For one, we’re with them. Even though this song isn’t a bop.. but it’s not really supposed to be. #issaight

“Lonelytown” – Vulfpeck

This song is a total jam. It’s a story that tells the tale of emotion over a metaphor that plays so much cleaner than the usual sad story of trouble and tribulation. Something about this makes you want to rob a 1910’s Mercantile, ride a horse to a biplane and do the Charleston on its wings! We feel like we’re in the new Mario Kart. #issabop

“6 Summers” – Anderson .Paak

Screen Shot 2018-11-16 at 4.49.52 PM

A political and satirical song with a jazzy delivery. We love Anderson .Paak. For what it’s worth, we think he’s a walking bop. His effortless style carries a rhythm and riff that could make you dance at any time. His lyrics are HOT and have a lot of bite. He’s not afraid to actually say something. Listening to Anderson is unlike listening to many other musicians because you have no idea what to expect (re: the Chainsmokers, who rarely break their trend). .Paak bops. #issabop

“Twerk” – City Girls ft. Cardi B

Screen Shot 2018-11-16 at 4.50.46 PM

City Girls and Cardi make us want to blow a hundo on fancy towels, sit in a lawn chair and say ‘okurr’ to every bad bitch who walks by, who’s feeling? Notable for introducing the concept of the pussy hickey! Pretty irresistible, but why would you even try to resist it? What’s wrong with you?! P.S. – one of the two City Girls is in jail right now. JT got two years for fraud charges. Her team better be working hard to get her out so we can get more music henny. #issabop

“Velvet Rope” – Rita Ora

Screen Shot 2018-11-16 at 4.47.39 PM

Pro-tip: if you’re gonna strip it back to the basics, maybe lay off the autotune. With that said, there is some soul tucked in here, albeit contrived, but we’ll take it where we can get it. Rita has had the hardest time breaking into the American market, so we applaud effort, but still waiting for that spark of authenticity that really connects. #issaight

“Connect” – Elohim

Whoa! Elohim brings some high-fructose sweet sonics as they flambé our ears in the spice of these sizzling sound waves. “Connect” came about from a collaboration with Skrillex. Elohim’s smooth voice and passionate vocals, singing oh-so-original-lyrics make the listener feel afloat. #issabop

“Blu” – Jon Bellion

Screen Shot 2018-11-09 at 11.46.54 AM

This song could serve as the soundtrack for a yet-to-be-made film. It could have also been written by an A.I.. Jon Bellion is at the top of his form, continuously pushing the pop envelope to search for both higher highs and lower lows. We’ve already bought the ‘Glory Sound Prep’ T-Shirt because we’re huge Jon Bellion riders. Great vibes. #issabop

“Hurts Like Hell” – Madison Beer ft. Offset

Screen Shot 2018-11-09 at 11.47.05 AM

Hey! Madison Beer does a phenomenal job containing the ravings of the 3rd Migo. Everything we’ve yet to be impressed with about Offset is covered by the wildly enjoyable Madison Beer in this contemporary low-fi take of that bitter, passive agressive sentiment — fuck you, ex. Although, in a world of literally Ariana putting her exes on blast with a VERY graceful song, “thank u, next” – this one falls a bit emotionally flat for us. #issaight

“Worst Nites” – Foster The People

We have high expectations for Foster The People after their surprise comeback hit “Next To Me.” This song has some cool vibes but overall we’re unimpressed. We want the full effect. We want to be wowed. Wishing they would release another pop radio smash. #issaflop
