Billie Eilish has had a lot of explaining to do for her new song, “wish you were gay.” Everyone (and we do mean everyone) is freaking out, as per usual when a lightening-rod word is in the mix. She says “first off, I want to be so clear that it’s so not supposed to be an insult. I feel like it’s been a little bit misinterpreted. I tried so hard to not make it in any way offensive.” And, see that’s really our only issue with this song.
Over-thought, P.C. lyrics, seemingly written by an anti-insult-machine don’t lend themselves very well to heartlfelt lamentations; “to spare my pride/to give your lack of interest an explanation/I’m not your type/maybe I’m not your preferred gender orientation.” #issaflop
